North Staffordshire pub shuts tonight for refurb

It’s the landlord’s last shift too

A town centre pub is shutting for a makeover. The Crown & Cushion – on Biddulph High Street – will open for the final time on Sunday, January 25.

It comes as the current landlord is also leaving.

The current licensee is preparing to go out with a bang.

In a social media post to regulars, the venue stated: “Sunday is our last day and we are going to make it a big one. All of the staff will be here to say goodbye to everyone, and both the Sheriff and the Beaver will be here to entertain you until we close so come on in and say your goodbyes.”

A reopening date has not yet been announced.

Punch Pubs & Co senior operations manager Rachael Henry said: “We can confirm that the current agreement at the Crown & Cushion will end on 26 January when the pub will temporarily close for an investment. We want to thank our outgoing publican for their hard work and dedication throughout their tenure and to our guests in the community for their ongoing support and understanding during this transition.

“The Crown & Cushion is a fantastic pub and we are really looking forward to updating the community on our plans in the coming weeks. We remain committed to ensuring this pub thrives for many years to come, offering exceptional hospitality, live sports and entertainment and creating a space where everyone feels welcome and connected, with a focus on bringing people together for any occasion.”
