Shoppers have expressed their sadness as a Harry Potter store prepares to close. Potteries Potions – which used to be known as The Shop That Cannot Be Named – has been popular with Potterheads since opening in Longton three years ago.
But the store has blamed the cost of living crisis and changing shopping habits for its decision to shut at the end of January.
Now StokeonTrentLive readers are disappointed that it will be disappearing from The Strand.
Natalie Ward said: “I’ll be sad to see it go. It is definitely a magical place to visit.”
Michelle Green said: “What a shame. I was only in there a couple of weeks ago buying Christmas gifts.”
Janet Henderson added: “A fantastic little gem of a shop.”
Martin Pilling has questioned whether Trentham Estate would have been a more suitable location for the shop.
He said: “It’s a shame. It’s a very good shop and something totally different to your generic ‘every town shop’. It has been great to have it in Longton but unless you know it is there or you are looking for its specific products then it is not somewhere you can stumble upon when visiting Stoke-on-Trent. It would have benefited from being somewhere like Trentham Gardens but I know its rents would probably be a lot higher.”
