An oatcake shop is shut today – for one very sad reason. Oatbakers – on Station Street, in Longport – is remaining closed on Friday 20 March.
It comes as half of the team will be attending a funeral.
In a social media post to customers, Oatbakers stated: “For everyone that wasn’t aware we will be closed this Friday to attend a family funeral. We would have preferred to stay open but with 50 per cent of the team not available we have decided it wouldn’t be possible or fair on the team to expect them to be able to serve so many customers. Please tag your friends, family and work colleagues so they know not to visit us this Friday. Thank you for your understanding.”
