Britain’s black-owned businesses are being celebrated by BusinessLive and its parent company Reach Plc.
Last month, a campaign was launched across Reach’s news titles around the UK to help support the growth of the country’s black economy.
The campaign – called #IAMBOB – is part of the work BusinessLive and Reach Plc are doing to represent all the communities they serve and to highlight the importance of black-owned companies to Britain’s economic recovery.
It involves telling the success stories of black-owned companies – from start-ups to SMEs to large corporates – from every nation and region of the UK.
The campaign initially took place during October’s Black History Month – an annual event that originated in the US but is now also observed in Ireland, the Netherlands and Great Britain.
During that time Reach’s news brands retweeted hundreds of black-owned businesses to thousands of loyal followers.
The campaign will now continue into November and over and around the weekend of Black Pound Day (Saturday, November 7), when Brits are encouraged to spend money with local and online black-owned businesses.
How do I take part in #IAMBOB?
All you have to do to take part is to tweet us with the hashtag #IAMBOB any time from now until Sunday, November 8, and we will retweet you.
We are also planning a number of articles highlighting the work of black entrepreneurs in the upcoming weeks.
To tell your story, email our national business team at firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:
- Name of your company
- Where you are based

And if you have pictures of you in your business, please email them across too.
